Although Collymore feels that the £8.5 million fee that Norwich City paid for Naismith may be slightly excessive, the former Premier League striker insists that he will be a good buy if he keeps Alex Neil’s side in the top tier.
Naismith’s energy and desire were two of his key attributes at Everton, and Collymore suggests he would have been perfect for Villa - given their current plight.
Would have loved Naismith at Villa. Exactly what we need. Experience, infectious enthusiasm, goals, a real nuisance ! Good #NCFC signing.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) January 19, 2016
8.5 is pricey but it’s less pricey than going down! #Naismith— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) January 19, 2016
Norwich made Naismith their number one target in January, and they have been tracking the Scotland international for some time.
At first it seemed that their efforts would prove fruitless, but Naismith did a u-turn on a move to Carrow Road and he now comes in to strengthen their front line.
The Canaries have also made additions at the back in January, and Neil’s squad looks much stronger for the business he has done this month.
Naismith leaves Everton having scored 18 goals in 103 Premier League appearances for the Merseyside club.
