The 18-year-old is an England youth international team-mate of Adam Armstrong's.
The 18-year-old has been in excellent form for the Boro under-21s and is an England under-18 international.
The Hartlepool-born wing wizard has a professional contract at Riverside until the summer of 2017 so Newcastle would need to pay a fairly handsome fee if they wanted to take this prized asset away from the Teesiders.
Newcastle currently have plenty of talented youngsters in their youth system and coming into the first-team and it would be hoped that Chapman could lead a charge of young talent at St James' Park along with the likes of Adam Armstrong, Rolando Aarons and Jamie Sterry.
Chapman, who plays with Armstrong for the England youth teams, would certainly be an excellent coup for Newcastle over their North East rivals but it would seem unlikely that Aitor Karanka would sanction the departure of one of his top talents.
