Report: Cardiff City want Lex Immers from Feyenoord, talks start today

Feyenoord, De Kuip

The Dutchman has struggled for first-team football this season.

Cardiff City are hoping to tie down a loan deal for Feyenoord attacking midfielder Lex Immers, according to BBC Wales Sport.

The 29-year-old joined Feyenoord in 2012 after impressing for ADO Den Haag. But despite being linked with a call-up to the Dutch national team in his early days in Rotterdam he has struggled to maintain that form and has started just twice in the Eredivisie this season.

Cardiff are under a transfer embargo so are looking to bring players in on loan this month as they look to stay in contention for the play-offs after an inconsistent season so far.

Immers can play in the advanced midfield role, his favoured position, but is capable of playing in a deeper midfield position if called upon and left-hand side of midfield. However Cardiff would be likely to play him off of a main striker if Russel Slade did pull off this deal.

FC Update in Holland is now reporting that Immers will speak to Cardiff today after completing training with Feyenoord.

Immers has featured 100 times for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie and has scored on 31 occasions.

His signing would certainly be welcomed by the Cardiff faithful and it is hopefully one that The Bluebirds can push through in the coming days.
