According to The Sun, Aston Villa have begun talks with veteran free agent defender Nemanja Vidic following his release from Inter Milan.
Villa have yet to make a new signing during the January transfer window, but manager Remi Garde will be keen to bring in some new faces in a desperate bid to keep Villa in the top flight.
Fans may want to see a new defender brought in considering Villa's leaky back line this season, and a Premier League veteran could give Garde the know-how to launch a survival bid.
Now, The Sun report that Villa have opened talks with defender Nemanja Vidic over a shock return to the Premier League, having been released by Inter Milan this month.
The Serbian, 34, is best known for his time with Manchester United, where he won five Premier League titles as well as the Champions League, becoming a fearless captain during his time at Old Trafford.
Now a free agent, Vidic will be looking to make a quick return to football, and it's stated that Villa have already begun negotiating with the experienced centre back.
A deal until the end of the season would suit Villa, meaning they aren't saddling themselves with a long-term contract for an ageing player, whilst Vidic could be handed a surprise return to Premier League action in the final years of his outstanding career.
Would Vidic be a good signing for Villa?
