Former Rangers midfielder Ray Wilkins suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT last Thursday morning (January 14) that Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain would be a good signing for Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool.
“What a great player he would be in the Premier League at Arsenal, Chelsea,” said the former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder about Higuain.
“I think they will turn around and say that he is 29, 30 whatever he is, but he is a proven goalscorer and for a couple of years, he could be the difference from winning and losing.”
When asked if Liverpool could do with Higuain, Wilkins said: “I couldn’t agree more.”
Higuain has been on the books of Napoli since 2013 and has a contract until June 2018. The Argentina international is one of the best strikers in Europe and has been in superb form so far this season.
The former Real Madrid star has scored 20 goals and created 26 chances in 20 Serie A appearances so far this campaign. Last season, the 28-year-old scored 18 goals and created 48 chances in 37 league games.
During the 2013-14 season, Higuain scored 17 goals and created 25 chances in 32 league matches for Napoli.
Napoli are at the top of the Serie A table at the moment with 44 points from 20 matches, two points clear of second-placed and defending champions Juventus.
