Liverpool’s most recent addition Steven Caulker played the full 90 minutes for the Reds’ under-21 side against their Leeds United counterparts on Tuesday evening.
The 24-year-old arrived at Anfield in a shock loan move from Queens Park Rangers earlier in the month, and as he is ineligible to play in tonight’s FA Cup third round replay against Exeter City it was no surprise to see him get a much needed run-out 24 hours earlier.
Liverpool won the match 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Dan Trickett-Smith and while Caulker’s passing was not always great he looked imposing at the back, regularly clearing balls and showing composure alongside his young teammates.
With Liverpool’s problems in defence this season it made sense for manager Jurgen Klopp to bring in someone new, and while Caulker was few people’s first choice he now has the chance to prove his worth at Anfield and potentially earn a permanent deal in the summer.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Liverpool fans thought of Caulker’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:

Caulker played a very solid game with U-21's winning 1-0 vs Leeds. Goal by Trickett-Smith #lfc— tom dekkers (@tom_dekkers) January 19, 2016
Good to see caulker putting in a shift for the u21s. Most players would think they're too good to do it.— ウスマニ (@usman_94_) January 19, 2016
