Leeds fans react on Twitter to Lewie Coyle and Jordan Botaka's under-21 performances

Leeds suffered a narrow defeat in their under-21 match with Liverpool.

With Sam Byram set to depart Leeds United, there is added focus on the potential of youngster Lewie Coyle.

There is a hope that Coyle will be able to fill in like Charlie Taylor did last season after Stephen Warnock left, and establish himself as a regular.

Coyle is close, making his debut in late December, and following it up with another substitute appearance against MK Dons.

Gaetano Berardi is the club's first choice right-back, and was even with Byram fit, but there are legitimate questions as to whether 20-year-old Coyle deserves a run in the side while the Swiss star is out injured, at the expense of Scott Wootton, who is more of a centre-back anyway.

Coyle got a chance to impress last night as Leeds' under-21 side took on Liverpool, and played the entire game as the Whites slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat.

Leeds fans were impressed with his display, and took away hope that he can develop into the first team player they want him to be.

Less positivity exists around summer signing Jordan Botaka, who has struggled for game time since signing, and has been knocked down the pecking order by the loan arrival of Mustapha Carayol.

He played 79 minutes in the defeat, and failed to make an impact. The game was the last 16 of the Premier League Cup, and Leeds have been eliminated as a result of their loss.

Daniel Trickett-Smith scored Liverpool's winner, for a side which included new on loan defender Steven Caulker.

Here is a look at the not so glowing comments regarding Botaka's display...
