The goalkeeper recently signed a new five-year deal at Anfield.
The Belgian goalkeeper has come in for criticism again this season, with several mistakes having put his place in the Liverpool first team under scrutiny once more.
Despite that Klopp has handed his number one a new five-year deal at the club to extend his stay at the club until the 2020/21 season.
That decision has been widely criticised by the Reds fan base, but Klopp insists that Mignolet is the perfect fit for his side for a number of reasons.
"We’ve thought about it all and in the end it is the package [and] Simon Mignolet is for us perfect,” he told liverpoolfc.com.
“He is a smart guy, young enough to develop in the things he has to develop and he gives us all, the whole team, a good feeling when he is in the starting line-up, so that is really important.”
"We thought about in and in the end the result was that we are sure we want to work together with him for the next years, that’s why we offered him a new contract.”
While Mignolet has struggled in recent weeks, there is no denying that he does have the quality that is needed to be Liverpool's number one.
He has proved that already, having bounced back from being dropped by former manager Brendan Rodgers last season to keep the most clean sheets of any goalkeeper in the Premier League across 2015.
His record is not bad this season either, with him having kept seven clean sheets already, the same as Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and just one fewer than Manchester United’s David de Gea.
That is not a bad record at all, and Klopp will be hoping that his new deal can push the Belgian to raise his game and prove himself in the second half of the campaign.
