Gardner recently joined Forest on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the 2015-16 campaign. This is the midfielder’s second loan spell at the City Ground - he played for the Reds during the second half of last season.
The 23-year-old is very popular among the Forest fans, who wished him speedy recovery when he suffered a long-term injury in pre-season.
The former England Under-21 international has said that he wants to show his gratitude to the supporters by playing well.
“I couldn’t thank the fans enough,” Gardner told Forest’s official website. “Even when I was back at Villa they were wishing me luck. I want to give everything I can for them.
“The fans are very passionate and that’s the type of lad I am. Hopefully I can pay them back by giving good performances and getting as many wins as possible."
Gardner did well for Forest during the second half of last season, scoring four goals and creating 10 chances in 18 Championship appearances.
The Villa-owned midfielder had a pass accuracy of 73% and a shot accuracy of 29%, and won 51 headers, six dribbles and 48 tackles.
In two league matches for Forest so far this season, Gardner has created two chances, has a pass accuracy of 89% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and has won three headers and one tackle.
