The Romanian has left the club for Watford.
Italian Vito Mannone was on the bench which seemed to signify the end of Costel Pantilimon's Sunderland career.
The giant Romanian has been the club's number one in recent times but it seems that Sam Allardyce is not a fan of the former Manchester City stopper.
Yesterday that was confirmed as Pantilimon, who had been at the Stadium of Light since 2014, joined Watford on a three-year-deal.
After finalising the move to Vicarage Road the Romanian took to Twitter to thank the Sunderland fans for all their support in the past 18 months:
Despite Allardyce clearly not being a fan Pantilimon performed some heroics last season as Sunderland battled relegation and Sunderland fans are not likely to forget that.
He will now be battling with Heurelho Gomes and Giedrius Arlauskis for the number one sport at Watford - who have impressed since promotion from the Championship last season.
