World Cup winner Carles Puyol analyses Tottenham's season, raves about Mauricio Pochettino

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol has hailed Tottenham and their manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Barcelona hero Carles Puyol has told Tottenham's official website that he thinks Mauricio Pochettino is 'one of the best' coaches in the world.

Spurs have been enjoying a superb season, and currently sit fourth in the Premier League, just five points behind league leaders Arsenal, as they lodge a surprise bid for the title.

With the best defence in the league, a deadly goalscorer in Harry Kane, and a host of talented young players, Tottenham are not only one of the best teams in the Premier League right now, but appear to have a bright future ahead of them too.

Manager Pochettino will be targeting at least a Champions League place this season, but they could even run out Premier League title winners if they can start turning draws into wins.

Intriguingly, Barcelona legend Carles Puyol - who won six league title and three Champions League titles, as well as the World Cup and European Championships once each - has visited Tottenham's training base along with Pochettino's former team-mate Ivan De La Pena, and has given his verdict on Spurs.

Speaking to Tottenham's official website, Puyol claims that former Espanyol boss Pochettino is one of the best coaches in the world, and loves how much he enjoys managing.

Puyol also added that he thinks Spurs will have a good season, even though the defeat to Leicester City a week ago was a blow, and noted that the unpredictable nature of the Premier League could yet see Tottenham challenge for the title.

"I think he's a very good coach, one of the best," said Puyol. "He has proved it in every team has been. I like his way of understanding football. He likes good football, but with players who show intensity. He really enjoys his profession, and that is something I love. He is a great coach."

"It is going okay - the Premier League is very irregular! Every match is difficult, but they are having a good season. There are not many points between them and and the top clubs. The Leicester result was a shame, but in my opinion, they will have a good season," he added.

Do you agree with Puyol's assessment of Pochettino and Tottenham?
