Brentford eye deal for Samba Diakite

HITC Sport understands that Championship club could make a move for QPR man.

Brentford are lining up a deal for Queens Park Rangers midfield misfit Samba Diakite, if they sell Toumani Diagouraga to Rangers, HITC Sport understands.

Former Bees chief Mark Warburton is battling hard to land Diagouraga - who has had a transfer request turned down - and the Scottish giants believe they will land him.

Brentford are now compiling a list of targets and Diakite is top of that along with Rotherham’s Richie Smallwood.

Mali international Diakite has not played for QPR since 2013, having two loan spells away from the club at Watford and Al Ittihad.

He returned to Loftus Road this summer but has not played a single minute, and has appeared on the bench just once and QPR will be more than happy to subsidise a loan move to Griffin Park.

Diakite joined QPR in 2012, initially on-loan but then on a permanent deal. His current deal expires at the end of this season.
