HITC Sport understands the Bournemouth star is set to be rewarded with a new deal

Bournemouth defender Simon Francis is in advanced talks over a new deal at Dean Court, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Francis has established himself as a key member of Eddie Howe's side since joining the club from Charlton in 2012.

The former Bradford City man played a key role in helping Bournemouth win promotion last season and he taken the step up to the Premier League in his stride.

The 30-year-old, who has been used at right-back and centre-back this season, has been an ever-present in the Premir League this term and he has impressed in Bournemouth's first season back in the top flight.

The defender's existing deal was due to expire in 18 months, but they club are keen to secure Francis on a new long-term deal.

Francis has made well over 100 appearances for Bournemouth and the club see him a key part of their plans going forward.

Bournemouth have been busy in this month's transfer window with three new signings, but the club are aware of the need to keep hold of their best players on new long-term deals to ward off potential suitors.
