Taking to his personal Twitter account, Stan Collymore has predicted how much Romelu Lukaku is worth in this current transfer market, suggesting a large value for the Everton striker.
Reckon Lukaku must be 45 upwards now? Proven scorer, still a baby, still development plus a pedigree athlete.— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) January 19, 2016
£45 million seems excessive for Lukaku, but when considered, it is actually an understandable estimation.
Lukaku has scored 19 goals in 27 games this season, taking his Premier League tally to 57 and his career tally in domestic football to 90 goals. This is despite the fact he is still only 22-years-old, and spent a large time at Chelsea not being used.
When his Everton spell is taken as a standalone period, he has netted an exceptional 55 times in 108 games, whilst also managing 20 assists in that time. He has also scored 11 times for Belgium, and has 42 caps to his name despite his youth.
As Collymore points out, Lukaku is now a proven goalscorer, is still a young player with space to develop, and, maybe most importantly, is a pedigree athlete.
The youngster is tall, strong, fast and full of energy, making him the perfect specimen for a modern day footballer.
There may be more technical players, but Lukaku has all the traits to suggest he might just be the most valuable striker in the entire Premier League.
