Bannan and Morrison are good friends, but at the moment it would appear that the West Brom man is in pole position to win the money.
Bannan has only scored twice so far this term, but the 26-year-old is not giving up hope of reaching his target.
“I have got a bet with my mate James Morrison that I will get to eight so hopefully I will manage to reach that target,” Bannan said. “It was nice to score my first goal in front of the home fans against Fulham.
“It was one of those strikes that doesn’t happen every week so you have got to savour it while you can.”
Despite his lack of goals, Bannan has still played a key part at Wednesday ever since completing a move from Crystal Palace.
The Scotland international has come straight into Carlos Carvalhal’s first team squad, and he has impressed.
Bannan’s energy has set the tone for his side, and his good form has helped them climb into a play off spot.
Wednesday are now in sixth place, and if Bannan does start getting on the scoresheet more often it will only strengthen their chances of earning promotion to the Premier League.
