The young West Bromwich Albion forward is a risk worth taking for a Newcastle United side in desperate need of a 20-goal-a-season striker.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are ready to step up their interest in West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino with an £18million offer in the pipeline, and in time that could prove to be an absolute master-stroke.
With the ongoing speculation surrounding Berahino’s future, much has been made of his alleged ‘bad attitude’, and as a result his innate footballing ability appears to have been forgotten.
The 22-year-old may have only scored four goals this season but he has been used sparingly for much of it and there is no doubting his talent when playing regularly…and with a smile on his face.
Newcastle have had some wonderful strikers down the years and Berahino has the ability to join that list.
After all, he is still young but he will have the bit between his teeth to impress at whichever club he ends up at, while his 20 goals last season (including 14 in the Premier League) say it all.
How Newcastle could do with a 20-goal a season striker now; a player with a point to prove and a razor-sharp instinct in the area.
There are always risks in football, but signing a young striker who is prolific when played regularly and who already knows the English game seems like a no-brainer.
