According to the Daily Mail, Watford are in talks to sign Costel Pantilimon from Sunderland.
The Hornets have decided that Pantilimon would improve the quality of their squad, and have seized their opportunity to sign the Romanian.
The former Manchester City man had started the season as Sunderland’s first choice, but Sam Allardyce has been quick to use all three of his senior stoppers since taking charge at the Stadium of Light.
Pantilimon has been dropped for Vito Mannone, and more recently Jordan Pickford.
Allardyce feels that there is no need for Sunderland to have to fund having three goalkeepers capable of playing in the Premier League, and wanted to sell either Mannone or Pantilimon.
It appears that it will be Pantilimon who departs, with Watford in talks to sign the tall stopper.
If Pantilimon does move to Vicarage Road he will be in competition with Heurelho Gomes for a first team place.
