Report: Tottenham coach John McDermott rejects Manchester United job offer

Manchester United have attempted to bring in Tottenham head of coaching John McDermott.

Manchester United have failed in an attempt to lure a key part of Tottenham Hotspur's backroom team, report The Times.

John McDermott is the head of coaching and player development at the club, and is credited with helping bring through players including Harry Kane.

The Times reported that United had approach McDermott about taking up a key role in their academy, but he has decided to reject the advances and continue to build with Tottenham Hotspur.

This is obviously good news for Tottenham, and speaks volumes that their youth set up is so highly regarded that their top man is being head hunted.

It also underlines that McDermott feels there is plenty more which can be achieved, and wants to continue working alongside head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

This is a show of loyalty which Tottenham fans surely hope Pochettino replicates to his team and the club should the Red Devils ever come knocking for his services as first team boss.
