Report: Newcastle United and Leicester City set to miss out on Abdoulaye Doucoure; Watford closing in

Newcastle United and Leicester have been credited with an interest in Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, with Watford reportedly set to land him.

According to a report on TalkSPORT, Watford are leading the race to sign Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Leicester City and Newcastle United had both hoped to sign the 23-year-old, but they could be set to miss out, as Watford have reportedly made the first bid.

The Hornets have submitted an offer of £5 million to the Ligue 1 side to open negotiations.

Rennes are said to be looking for £7 million for Doucoure, but Watford are optimistic of completing a deal.

Quique Sanchez Flores’ side are apparently willing to raise their bid, but have came in low to try and get the midfielder at a cheap price.

They will have to act fast, however, as Leicester and Newcastle are both ready to pounce should the deal fall through.

Doucoure has made 17 appearances for Rennes so far this season, scoring on three occasions.
