Report explains hold-up in Florian Thauvin’s return to Marseille

Florian Thauvin

Marseille are reportedly interested in signing Florian Thauvin on loan from Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

According to L’Equipe, there is a hold-up Florian Thauvin’s return to Marseille due to Newcastle United’s pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend.

According to The London Evening Standard, Newcastle are interested in signing the England international winger from Premier League rivals Tottenham in the January transfer window.

L’Equipe claims that although Marseille have reached an agreement with Thauvin, Newcastle are waiting to bring in Townsend before accepting the French club’s loan bid.

According to a recent report in The Shields Gazette, Thauvin wants to return to Marseille in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old winger moved to Newcastle from the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer of 2015, but he has struggled to make a huge impact at St. James’ Park.

The former Bastia man has created only five chances in 13 Premier League appearances for the Magpies so far this season.

Thauvin has a pass accuracy of 70% and a shot accuracy of 20%, and has won two headers, 11 dribbles and six tackles.
