The former Derby County loanee has struggled to find form at Porto.
So what about a former loanee at their East Midlands rivals?
He went back to Spain that summer and ended up joining Rayo Vallecano in 2013.
Last season he was fantastic with the club, scoring 17 goals in 36 games and even nearing on a call-up to the Spanish national team.
His contract expired in the summer and he ended up moving to Porto.
However, he has struggled for first-team football with Porto. He has featured just four times in the Portuguese league this season and would make an excellent recruit for Forest.
The attacker would be an excellent addition to the Forest first-team and an ambitious move like this could be just what they need for the rest of the season.
It seems a far-fetched deal, but many said the same about Nelson Oliveira.
Forest would be wise to go with ambition yet again.
