Bentaleb has missed the bulk of Spurs’ campaign to date through injury, and he has barely featured so far.
Rumours have begun to circulate suggesting that the youngster could be set to depart White Hart Lane, but Pochettino insists that these reports are false.
"From the beginning he had a problem," Pochettino said. "He missed 17 or 18 games with re-injury. The team moved on and another player had the opportunity to play.
"But we keep a very good relationship with Nabil and be sure that, if he works like he works in the last few weeks, he will have the possibility to play. It's always about a football decision, and performance.”
Bentaleb was vital for Tottenham last season, but in his absence a number of players have stepped up.
Eric Dier and Dele Alli formed Tottenham’s midfield axis over the early part of the campaign.
Mousa Dembele has now established his place in Tottenham’s team, while Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll have also had a run of games.
Bentaleb, meanwhile, has only played six times - and he has not featured in a Premier League match since August.
It seems that his long-term future remains with Spurs though, and he will hope for a more prominent role as the season progresses.
