A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.
The Reds currently sit in ninth and are struggling at both ends of the field when it comes to goals, though there is the slight suggestion from Henderson that he feels manager Jurgen Klopp will strengthen the squad in the summer, but he believes the players at the club now are capable of good things, but need to show them.
He's quoted in the Liverpool Echo, amongst other sources: “We want to win every trophy we can, whether it is FA Cup, Capital One Cup or Europa League. Whatever it is, we need to make sure we give our all. But at the minute, it is hard to reflect because it is so disappointing.
“Of course it is disappointment. In terms of performance it was good at times, but obviously not good enough to win the game.
“We scored three the other night (against Arsenal) and we are creating chances. We just couldn’t finish them off (against United) for whatever reason. We just have to keep going.”
Last night it was announced that under-fire goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been handed a new long-term contract by the club.
Though he has received a lot of criticism, the Belgian told the official Liverpool website: “I know with a long-term contract, you get more responsibility – and I want to take up that role because I’m the sort of character that wants to be a leader, wants to speak in the dressing room and wants to help the defence."
It is thought that the Brazilian will fight for a place in the Liverpool first team when he returns from his spell in the summer.
