Celtic face competition from Championship duo Derby County and Middlesbrough for highly-rated Manchester City youngster Bersant Celina, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Celtic have been leading the chase for Celina with Bhoys boss Ronny Deila a big admirer of the creative midfielder having worked with him during his time in charge of Norwegian side Stromsgodset.
Celina, who joined City in 2012 from Stromsgodset, is highly-regarded at the Etihad Stadium and is tipped as a future City star.
The 19-year-old made his first-team debut as a substitute in the recent FA Cup win over Norwich City, but City are prepared to loan him out so that he can get valuable first-team action under his belt.
Celtic enjoy a good working relationship with City having signed John Guidetti and Jason Denayer from them last year and they hope that will give them the edge in landing Celina.
Derby and Middlesbrough have both enquired about Celina as they look to bolster their midfield options with both clubs battling it out for promotion to the Premier League.
City are weighing up the options for Celina and they would prefer that wherever the youngster goes he does get regular first-team action which means Celtic are favourites for his signature.
