Nabil Bentaleb's agent Marc Desmazon has told FCInter1908.it that he knows nothing of a swap deal involving Stevan Jovetic, and claims Bentaleb will stay at Tottenham.
Bentaleb, 21, joined Spurs from Dunkerque in 2012, and became a regular in the first team under Mauricio Pochettino last season, making 35 appearances in all competitions.
After a string of superb performances for Spurs last term, Bentaleb was handed a new five-year contract over the summer, keeping him at White Hart Lane until 2020.
However, few could have predicted how Bentaleb has dropped off this season, as form and injury have pushed him down the pecking order at Spurs, with the likes of Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Tom Carroll and Mousa Dembele becoming Pochettino's favoured central midfielders.
That has prompted some rumours that Bentaleb could end up leaving Spurs, whilst Corriere Dello Sport reported last week that Tottenham could be looking at Stevan Jovetic of Inter Milan, in a bid to solve their striking problems.
FCInter1908.it have now asked Bentaleb's agent Marc Desmazon whether a swap deal involving Bentaleb and Jovetic could be on the cards - but he hasn't heard anything about such a deal, and believes Tottenham will certainly keep him this month - but a summer move isn't out of the question.
"This news for me is something completely new, I know nothing of the interest of Inter and I have never heard about it from anyone, and I don't believe that Tottenham have talked to Inter," said Desmazon when asked about the swap for Jovetic. "I think they're rumours spread by the Algerian journalists."
"In January, no, from what I know Spurs do not want to sell him. Later everything is possible, anything can happen in the summer," he added.
Joveitc is currently on an 18-month loan deal from Manchester City, but Inter can make that deal permanent and then send him elsewhere if they so wish.
However, It seems that any Bentaleb-Jovetic swap deal isn't in the pipeline right now, with Tottenham seemingly committed to keep Bentaleb, getting him fit again and getting him back into Pochettino's first team.
