Former Manchester United youngster Pierluigi Gollini is impressing in Italy.
Manchester United may end up regretting letting Pierluigi Gollini leave the club, but he has no regrets about signing with them.
The Italian is barely a household name in this country, and even many United fans may never have heard of him.
He signed from Fiorentina's youth team in 2012, spending two years with the Red Devils' under-18 side, before leaving on a free transfer to sign with Hellas Verona.
Now 20-years-old, he has established himself as a first team goalkeeper for the Serie A side, and has starred in recent weeks against AC Milan and Roma. With a contract until 2019, he is a player the club see as a real star of the future.
Leaving United was evidently a sensible decision as he would not have got games behind David de Gea, but his agent has told Tuttomercatoweb he has not regrets over joining the Red Devils.
Joseph Rice told the outlet when asked if Gollini regretted leaving United; "Not one, surely he would redo the choice.
"It was a shared decision to return to Italy to play. He wanted to grow and play here and he was not wrong."
The bad news for United? Gollini left for free when his two-year contract expired, meaning they were not able to add a buy-back clause for the future.
