The defender looks set to complete a move from Wolfsburg.
The Canaries are set to complete an £8 million move for the Switzerland international this week, with Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs confirming that the two clubs had agreed a deal, reports the Mirror.
The defender is keen to play as much football as possible, having made just eight appearances so far this season but needing game time ahead of Euro 2016.
And Honigstein says they are getting a brilliant buy, as he was arguably the German side’s best defender last season.
“It’s an interesting one because you’d think Wolfsburg wouldn’t want to get rid of probably their best defender from last year,” he told BT Sport.
“Klose was really good last year; he plays for Switzerland and [he’s] very, very sold. I think he’s a brilliant buy for Norwich.”
Norwich boss Alex Neill will be hoping that the defender can come in and help to plug what has been a leaky Canaries defence so far this season.
They have conceded 38 goals already this season, a record that is the joint third worst in the Premier League, rivalling Sunderland and Newcastle United.
The Swiss will become their second signing of the January transfer window, after they also completed a deal for defender Ivo Pinto earlier in the month, another indication Neill is keen to improve his defence in the second half of the campaign.
