Report: Southampton could cash in on Graziano Pelle in January

Southampton's signing of Charlie Austin has bolstered their forward options.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Southampton could be willing to part with Graziano Pelle following the arrival of Charlie Austin.

The Saints have snapped up Austin from Queens Park Rangers and his signing bolsters Ronald Koeman’s options up front.

Although Southampton have ruled out selling Shane Long, with Liverpool reportedly interested, they are apparently more willing to sacrifice Pelle.

The Italian has 18 months left on his contract at St. Mary’s, and Southampton are stalling over handing him a new deal.

Koeman’s side do not want to let his contract run down to a point where they are unable to receive any money for the 30-year-old and could, therefore, decide to part with him in January - if the offer is acceptable.

Pelle is said to be of interest to Juventus, but no offers has been made from the Italian giants yet.

Pelle has scored 18 times in 53 Premier League matches for the Saints since arriving in 2014, but he has failed to hit the back of the net in any of his last seven appearances.
