Newcastle and Aston Villa are scouting the Portuguese Liga NOS.
Newcastle and Aston Villa had scouts present in Portugal this past weekend, the Daily Mail reports.
Estoril went ahead after 11 minutes, before Kostas Mitroglou and Pizzi secured the win with strikes in the second half.
There are no indications in the report as to who was being scouted, but the game threw up some impressive performances.
Leo Bonatini, who netted the opening goal for Estoril, netted his 10th league goal of the game in his 17th appearance. The 21-year-old Brazilian, a former youth international, is impressing in Portugal, and a move to one of Europe’s bigger leagues might not be too far away.
Both the Magpies and Villa need a striker who can hit the back of the net regularly, and Bonatini looks to be that player, although he could struggle to earn a work permit if a move to England materialises.
Eliseu is another player who has been rumoured to be leaving Benfica this month, and the defender played the full game against Estoril. A left-back, he is experienced and has talent, and would be a budget signing if either team want to bring in more defensive cover this month.
