Report: Andy Carroll could make West Ham return against Southampton

West Ham Upton Park

Andy Carroll was expected to miss six weeks of action for West Ham United.

According to a report on Sky Sports, Andy Carroll could return early from injury for West Ham United.

Carroll was expected to be out for six weeks with a hamstring injury, but it seems that his return could actually be far more imminent than expected.

The former Newcastle United man is hopeful of making his comeback against Southampton on 8 February.

Carroll picked up the hamstring problem during West Ham’s recent 3-1 win over Bournemouth and there were fears that he could be set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The England international has suffered with a series of injuries ever since joining West Ham but he recently scored in consecutive matches before suffering his latest setback.

His impending return will be excellent news for Slaven Bilic’s side as they are currently short of options up front.

With Diafra Sakho also out injured, the Hammers were forced to start Enner Valencia in the striking role against Newcastle United at the weekend, and they slipped to a 2-1 defeat.
