The Gunners drew 0-0 against Stoke on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners headed into Sunday’s game with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium knowing that a win would take them three points clear at the top of the table after Leicester City drew with Aston Villa.
Instead they drew 0-0 in a game of few chances, with goalkeeper Petr Cech arguably earning his side a point with a fine display.
It was the latest time this season they have missed the chance to steal a march on their rivals, and Schmeichel admits he is worried about Gunners.
“I’m a bit worried for Arsenal,” he told Sky Sports.
“They’ve had opportunities in the last four weeks to get ahead and leave the pack behind and they haven’t been able to do that.”
“When Ozil isn’t playing the difference is too big, when he is away they aren’t creating enough chances.”
While the result will have been something of a disappointing one for Arsene Wenger’s side, it was pleasing to see their development from last season.
They were beaten 3-2 at the Britannia last season, having found themselves 3-0 down at half time, but this time around showed the sort of defensive grit that is required to win the title.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that they can show it again throughout the second half of the campaign with the title looking a distinct possibility at this stage.
