Sheffield Wednesday have once again been linked with a move for Scottish striker Jordan Rhodes.
Rhodes is a proven player in the Championship, and Blackburn are quite rightly expected to be reluctant to sell the forward considering their own predicament, positioned 18th in the league.
Yet this is why a switch to Sheffield Wednesday is exactly what he needs.
Carlos Carvalhal's side have impressed this season, currently sitting inside the play-off spots in sixth position (16 points above Blackburn), and a push for automatic promotion is not out of the question with Rhodes in the side.
They would certainly benefit from a transfer, but Rhodes even more so, who is in his fourth season at Blackburn, who do not look like being able to challenge for promotion to the Premier League this season or even next.
This season he has regressed slightly, scoring at a ratio of 0.37 goals per game than 0.48 in 2014/15.
At 25, he needs a move in order to kick on in his career, and a switch to Wednesday can help him do this, and ensure his excellent level of performances over the past few years does not start trending downwards on a permanent basis.
