Jeremain Lens comments on speculation surrounding his Sunderland future

Lens has been linked with a move away from Sunderland.

Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from the Stadium of Light, the Sunderland Echo reports.

Lens has been linked with a move to several clubs recently after being omitted from the squad in a couple of games but the 28-year-old has told the newspaper that there is no truth in the rumours.

He said: “I never spoke about leaving. It’s the media and all the things around me.

“We will see what happens. I’m a Sunderland player and I’m focused on Sunderland.

“I’m happy that I’m playing, but I wasn’t with the result at Spurs.

“Let’s hope I’m playing in the next game and we can get a good result."

Lens has returned to the fold in the last three games, including the recent 4-1 defeat to Tottenham at the weekend, and those appearances certainly seem to be a firm indication that he has a future at the club for the time being. Obviously, the club's destiny could have a bearing on that in the summer.

The Sunderland Echo's report has credited Roma and Ajax as two sides who were linked with a move for the Dutchman but it seems to be just all rumours and the player will try and establish himself under Sam Allardyce for the rest of the season, and try and help the side towards Premier League survival.
