The Leeds United defender has looked like a different player in recent weeks.
Back in September, Leeds United centre-back Giuseppe Bellusci had arguably his worst match in a white shirt as his side lost 3-0 to Middlesbrough.
The Italian looked awful throughout and his performance was exemplified by a ridiculous own goal, so it is telling that a few months on Bellusci is now one of Leeds’ most impressive performers.
On Saturday Leeds lost 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday but manager Steve Evans singled out Bellusci’s contribution, telling Radio Yorkshire that the 26-year-old was outstanding. And when you consider Sol Bamba is now getting used to more time on the bench it seems his fellow centre-back has made himself all but indispensable under his new boss.
So what has prompted the turnaround?
There is no definitive answer but with Leeds owner Massimo Cellino reportedly valuing Bellusci at £4million (according to GianlucaDiMarzio.com) could it simply be that the player is now justifying his price-tag?
With reported interest from his homeland Bellusci may have upped his game in the hope of securing a move this month, or it could simply be that he now feels wanted, a vital part of the team, and the importance of that should never be understated.
