Hull City appear to be in competition with Middlesbrough and Derby County for an automatic promotion spot in the Championship.
Hull are currently in second place in England’s second tier, but they are being closely rivalled by Middlesbrough and Derby County.
Middlesbrough currently have a two point advantage over the Tigers, while the Rams are only four points behind them.
And Holloway said: “I'm surprised they haven't run away with the league. I believe this is a better team than what Steve had before in this league when he went up.
“There's so much talent in the squad. They're a team packed full of quality - Jake Livermore, Mohamed Diame, Abel Hernandez, Andy Robertson and they've just welcomed back Robert Snodgrass! What a player he is.”
Hull were in third place until recently, when a series of poor results from Derby has seen them slip down the table.
The Rams have taken just two of their last 12 available points, and Hull have taken full advantage.
The Tigers have now won their last three Championship matches, and they have scored 10 goals during that times.
Hull’s next match comes against Fulham on Saturday, where a win will consolidate their spot in the automatic promotion spaces.
