Report: Barcelona step up interest in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Can Arsenal keep hold of Aaron Ramsey?

According to a report in the Express, Spanish giants Barcelona are stepping up their pursuit of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, but will wait until the summer to make a move.

Ramsey has been in fine form this season for Arsene Wenger's side, scoring four times as Arsenal look to push for their first Premier League title since the 2003/2004 campaign.

The Express claim that Barca sent scouts to watch the talented Welshman during Arsenal's thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, with Ramsey opening the scoring for the Gunners.

The report somewhat controversially claims that Arsenal won't stand in the way of the 25-year-old's move to Catalonia and the Gunners could come away with between £50-60million for their troubles.

Ramsey will have a chance to impress Barcelona first hand when Arsenal take on the famous Spanish club in their Champions League second-round clash at the end of February.

However, while Ramsey has been heavily linked with a move to Spain, one man who doesn't think that the deal will go ahead is La Liga expert, Guillem Balague. He recently told Sky Sports that Barcelona's interest is just: "Short and sweet - there is zero chance that is true.”
