Forestieri played a starring role as Wednesday beat Leeds 2-0 at Hillsborough on Saturday, and he was eager to celebrate his side’s success on social media.
The Argentine player responded to the victory by posting a subtle dig at Cellino, who had accused him of not having the “right mentality” to play for Leeds before the season started, as reported by the BBC.
Great win today! The whole team had the "right mentality" to win the 3 points!!! Thanks for all your support! pic.twitter.com/wH31KP2zbQ— Fernando Forestieri (@Forestieri45) January 16, 2016
Leeds had wanted to sign Forestieri from Watford before the season started, but they decided against doing a deal after Cellino met with the forward.
The Argentine then went on to make a switch to Wednesday, where he has been a standout performer to date.
Forestieri has scored 11 times in 22 matches for the Owls, and his good form has been a major reason being Carlos Carvalhal’s side’s push for promotion.
Forestieri did not score against Leeds yesterday, but he did create one of Gary Hooper’s two goals in the contest.
Wednesday's victory over Leeds has moved them up to sixth in the Championship table, while Steve Evans’ side have dropped down to 17th as a consequence of their latest setback.
