The central midfielder has become a key player for Carlos Carvalhal’s side this season, and his good form was recently rewarded with a new contract.
The 26-year-old has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal which will keep him at Hillsborough until 2018.
And he said: “It’s good to get it sorted. We have been speaking for ages about it. I’m not one of those people who likes to say something until it happens.
“The only thought I had was to stay here because it makes sense. I have played the most games I ever played in my career here. I’m happy, my family are happy and I love Sheffield Wednesday.”
Hutchinson has been at Wednesday since 2014, and his performances have become progressively better.
The former Chelsea man has played in a range of positions, but Carvalhal has generally utilised him in central midfield and he has thrived.
Hutchinson’s combative performances have set the tone for Wednesday, and he has helped the Yorkshire side climb into promotion contention.
The Owls are now in sixth place in the Championship table, and they will be looking to consolidate their position in the play offs over the coming weeks.
