Stoke boss Mark Hughes has an unbeaten home record with five different clubs against Arsenal, a quite remarkable feat considering the strength of Arsene Wenger’s teams over the past decade.
It’s a difficult match nonetheless for the visitors, and Savage feels that the most likely outcome will be a draw – a result he believes Wenger would take if offered to him.
“Mark Hughes, I believe, has figured out a way to get results against Arsene Wenger [unbeaten as a manager at home] and Stoke at the Britannia has only lost one in seven against Arsenal,” he predicted on William Hill Betting.
“All the stats suggest that Stoke will not be beaten in this season and I think the best outcome in this game would be a draw. Considering his record against Mark Hughes, I think Wenger would take that.”
Following Leicester City’s 1-1 draw at struggling Aston Villa, Arsenal have the opportunity to go two points clear at the top of the Premier League table with victory.
The Gunners head into their clash a little bruised following their enthralling 3-3 draw at Liverpool, and Wenger will be hopeful his players rise to the test both physically and mentally.
A Stoke victory, on the other hand, would see them close the gap on the top four to just four points.
