Charlie Austin has joined Premier League side Southampton from Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

Queens Park Rangers duo Alejandro Faurlin and Leroy Fer have taken to social networking site Twitter to bid Charlie Austin a fond farewell.

Austin has left Championship outfit QPR to move to Premier League side Southampton on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

According to The Guardian, the Saints had to pay QPR a transfer fee of £4 million for the services of the English striker.

Faurlin and Fer have sent Austin congratulatory messages on Twitter, and believe that he will be a success at Southampton.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy played with the English striker at QPR, and he has wished his former teammate success in the Premier League.

Austin was arguably the best player on the books of QPR, and he will be missed by Rangers.

The 26-year-old scored 18 goals and created 23 chances in 35 Premier League games for QPR last season.

The former Burnley star has struggled with injuries this term, but he still scored 10 goals and created 17 chances in 16 Championship matches for Rangers.
