The Reds faithful were left disappointed by the 27-year-old once again on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool have been sucker punched by Manchester United many times before. The way it happened - terrible defending from a set-piece - also isn't a new theme. Nor is the fact Jurgen Klopp's men had no real striker to operate with, meaning a limp effort in the final third.
For all of Liverpool's domination in midfield against United, it took one shot on target to beat them. And the lion's share of possession only brought about four shots on target for the Reds.
Some individuals stood out for the right reasons. Lucas tackled well, Emre Can fashioned some good chances, Alberto Moreno looked energetic down the left.
Others, however, disappointed yet again. Jordan Henderson tried too much to be like Steven Gerrard. The amount of shots he went for that went so far wide - and from so far out - were countless. James Milner was once more anonymous.
But one of the biggest sources of frustration against Manchester United was Adam Lallana. Many Liverpool fans have been asking just what the 27-year-old does and with good reason. Against United, he did very little indeed - and here's how supporters viewed his performance on Twitter...
Shame. But Lallana deserves all the criticism he gets today. Not taking anything from Henderson but his decisions were poor today. #LFC— Folayan (@Shey_dii) January 17, 2016
Lallana is like a lad who uses unnecessary skill moves in FIFA, more into making a highlight reel than scoring/creating chances #LFC— Peter Bets (@BetsPeter) January 17, 2016
Never really noticed how much of a problem Lallana is. Can't score and runs around a bit. £25 Million... #LFC— Joe Allen (@StarCoutinho) January 17, 2016
I'll always say it .... Lallana isn't good enough .... Offers absolutely nothing #LFC— Andrew Kirk (@Ack17Kirk) January 17, 2016
Despite the hard work, if Lallana can't show soon that he's got goals in him, I can't see any future for him at #lfc under Klopp— Adam (@adamgreene27) January 17, 2016
I'd gladly never see Lallana in a Liverpool shirt again. Bigger waste of money than Lovren. #LFC— Philip (@sokretes) January 17, 2016
