Spurs were guilty of gifting opposition sides goals throughout last campaign, but they have tightened up considerably this time around.
Tottenham have the best defensive record of any team in the Premier League, and Rose hailed his side’s back-line after their recent 4-1 win over Sunderland.
"What I will say is that we've made a massive improvement from last season in terms of not leaking two or three goals and needing to score more than that to win a game," he said.
"In terms of being solid at the back, people who are not playing regularly coming in and doing ever so well is a massive achievement.”
Tottenham’s vast improvement at the back has been largely put down to the arrival of Toby Alderweireld, after he signed from Atletico Madrid in the summer.
The Belgian centre back has made a wonderful impression at White Hart Lane, and his showings at the heart of his side’s defence with Jan Vertonghen have caught the eye.
In the full-back positions, Rose, Ben Davies and Kyle Walker have also made considerable improvements, leaving Spurs’ defence looking much more robust.
Tottenham have now let in just 18 goals in their 22 Premier League matches to date.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit in fourth spot in the table after their victory over Sunderland.
