Chelsea's clash against Arsenal next weekend will have a very different feel to their last meeting if Diego Costa is not involved.
The match between the two London rivals is already lacking it's usual importance, because Chelsea are down in 14th position in the Premier League table, 19 points behind first placed Arsenal.
Their poor record meant manager Jose Mourinho was sacked in December, meaning he will not be renewing hostilities with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, with the more placid Guus Hiddink in charge instead.
Now there is a strong chance that controversial striker Diego Costa will also be out of action.
The Spanish international was injured in the 3-3 draw with Everton at the weekend. He suffered a bruised tibia and The Mirror report he is a major doubt for the clash at The Emirates.
Costa's potential absence is especially newsworthy because of what happened when he last took on the Gunners. He was involved in a confrontation with Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista and rowed with several opposition players, with the Brazilian centre-back ending up getting sent off for his part in the row.
The Chelsea striker escaped the same punishment, and ended up scoring in the 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal fans have been having their say on the possibility he could avoid a raucous reception at The Emirates...
I hope Diego Costa isn't injured & that Gabriel starts next weekend!! #AFC— Mike Hall (@mhallscouse) January 17, 2016
So reports say Diego Costa is injured and might not play against Arsenal. He is lying. He is trying hard not to face Gabriel Paulista— Greatthingsfollowme® (@i_am_RYHTEOUS) January 17, 2016
