Report: Everton’s Aiden McGeady wants Premier League loan move

Aiden McGeady

Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers, Celtic, Middlesbrough, Derby County and Brighton & Hove are all reportedly interested in the Everton winger.

Everton winger Aiden McGeady does not want to move to the Championship, according to The Times.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the 29-year-old wants to remain in the Premier League.

“Aiden McGeady, the Everton winger, is sought by Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers but would rather join a top-flight club on loan until the end of this season,” claims the report in The Times.

Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers are not the only Championship sides (reportedly) interested in McGeady.

Earlier this month, The Times reported of Middlesbrough, Derby County and Brighton & Hove’s interest in the Republic of Ireland.

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic have also been linked, but manager Ronny Deila recently told Herald Scotland that wage demands pose a problem.

Everton struggles

McGeady started his professional club career at Celtic and played for the Scottish giants until 2010. The winger then moved to Russian Premier League outfit Spartak Moscow and joined Everton in January 2014.

Things have not gone according to plan at the Toffees for the Republic of Ireland international, who is struggling for playing time at the moment.

McGeady has not made a single Premier League appearance for Everton so far this campaign, while last season he scored one goal and created 17 chances in 16 league games.
