L'Equipe: Aston Villa set to bring in Mathieu Debuchy on loan from Arsenal

The French international is now keen on a loan move to Villa Park.

Aston Villa have been linked with plenty of players this month as they look to bring in new talent for their frankly futile relegation battle.

But they will want to have a go of it and one man they have apparently shown an interest in is Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy.

The French international is currently behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order at Arsenal and is fretting over his place in the French national team for a home European Championships in the summer.

Villa boss Remi Garde has already admitted an interest in the player and now it is reported that Debuchy is keen on the move.

L'Equipe is reporting that Debuchy is happy with the idea.

The report claims that after being initially reluctant on the idea the right-back has decided the chance of regular first-team football in the Premier League is worth a relegation battle.

However he will not be joining Villa if, as expected, they do drop down into the Championship.

The news will come as a relief to Villa fans who have been hoping to see defensive recruits this month and Debuchy will certainly prove a good signing for the club.
