The Italian was poor in the Championship's early fixture.
Leeds United have lost a Yorkshire derby this afternoon as Sheffield Wednesday ran out 2-0 winners at Hillsborough.
Leeds had chances in the first-half but Wednesday came out firing in the second-half and ended up deserving the win - despite a late and controversial flurry from Leeds.
However both goals were certainly avoidable with Leeds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri having an afternoon to forget.
First of all he gave away the corner for the first goal. He could have let the ball travel wide but instead showed poor spatial awareness to parry the ball wide. Wednesday swung in the corner, a scramble ensued, Gary Hooper scored the opening goal.
Just moments later it was Silvestri to blame again. A strike from Fernando Forestieri was powerful but the Italian should have gobbled up the chance. Instead, he spilled the ball into the path of Hooper who made no mistake.
Silvestri has been in decent form recently but this performance saw him revert to type as a sloppy and inconsistent goalie.
Here is how the Leeds United faithful reacted to the performance of their goalkeeper on Twitter...
When Silvestri goes can he take that god awful keeper top with him #lufc— Neil Morgan (@11moggy) January 16, 2016
To be fair to Silvestri he has been brilliant last few months #lufc— Andrew Harvey (@AndrewHarvey_) January 16, 2016
Hard to choose between Marco Silvestri and Anthony Taylor for Wednesday's man of the match #lufc— MrPaulRobinson (@MrPaulRobinson) January 16, 2016
It's a shame Silvestri's scratch in April wasn't career ending— Dan (@lufc_dan) January 16, 2016
We've collapsed. Silvestri with a howler. FFS. #LUFC— RightInTheGaryKellys (@RITGK) January 16, 2016
Nobody talking about Silvestri. He will be thankful to Anthony Taylor! #lufc— Irish_Leeds (@Irish_Leeds) January 16, 2016
Can't blame Evans for that performance. Pretty sure he won't have told Silvestri to make 2 howlers and for the ref to be corrupt #lufc— Matthew (@Mattyjackooo) January 16, 2016
We need a keeper desperately. ..far too many errors by Silvestri #lufc— Rabernet (@RSTJA) January 16, 2016
Don't let that Ref's decision take away from Silvestri's appalling display. #lufc— Chris Hearn (@chris4465) January 16, 2016
No wonder we lost with Silvestri AND the ref both playing for them! #lufc— Steve Kinsey (@YorkshireDublin) January 16, 2016
Shocking decision from the ref, but he didn't lose us that game, Silvestri did. Two unforgivable errors that have let his team down. #lufc— Nathan Brien (@nath_brien) January 16, 2016
