Tottenham will face Sunderland at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Barnes has backed the North London outfit to register a 3-1 victory, and has predicted Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen to score for the home team.

Spurs have been one of the most consistent sides in the Premier League this season and have been playing well,” the former England international has written on

“Conversely, Sunderland have struggled of late – aside from their big win this week – so I think the home side will get the victory. Goalscorers – Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Jermain Defoe.”

Former Aston Villa and Everton striker Andy Gray has also backed Tottenham to win 3-1 against Sunderland.

“Spurs will be devastated they didn’t win against Leicester, Harry Kane’s miss was key,” the former Scotland international has written on “Sloppy marking caused them to lose. We’re about to see how good they are.

"If they’re serious about top four, they’ll win well. Sunderland still look frail, and Spurs have the quality to rip them apart. Jermaine Defoe will look to keep his run going.”

A footnote added: “Andy’s bet : Spurs 3-1 Sunderland 10/1.”

Playing at home will give Tottenham an advantage, and the North London outfit will be keen on bouncing back.

The defeat to Leicester City at home on Wednesday will have come as a disappointment to Spurs, who cannot afford any more slip-ups.

The first goal will be key. If Sunderland take the lead early on in the game, then they are likely to sit back, defend deep and make it tough for Spurs.

If Tottenham score first, then they are likely to go on and pick up all three points.

Spurs have the better team, and the players need to raise their game against Sunderland and show what they are capable of.
