Former West Ham winger explains why Payet is better than Di Canio

Payet Skill

Dimitri Payet has been superb for West Ham United so far this season.

Trevor Sinclair has told talkSPORT that West Ham United star Dimitri Payet is a better player than Paolo Di Canio.

Sinclair played with Di Canio at West Ham, and he has explained why he rates French attacking midfielder Payet more than the former Italy international forward.

“He has only done if for a short time, but for me Payet has been amazing,” the former England international winger told talkSPORT. "It’s because he works hard for the team as well. I don’t think Paolo was that selfless in his work-rate off the ball.”

Di Canio is one of the greatest players in West Ham history and played for the London outfit from 1999 to 2003. During his time at the Boleyn Ground, the Italian scored many a memorable goal and enthralled the fans.

Payet has been playing well for the Hammers this season, having taken to the Premier League like a duck to water since his move from Marseille in the summer of 2015.

The 28-year-old has scored six goals and created 53 chances in 15 league matches for West Ham so far this campaign.

West Ham are doing well at the moment and could end up in the top four of the Premier League this season.
