This is super mean from Savage!
If there's one thing we know about Robbie Savage, it's that he loves to have a laugh. He's kinda like a big golden retriever, just constantly bouncing around and just happy to be outside.
So it comes as no surprise to us that back in his playing days, Savage used to play a few practical jokes on his teammates - what are friends for, eh? And today we found out about probably his cruelest prank, which he played on poor old David Bentley.
But what did he do? Well, instead of pretending he was on the radio or just calling him a rude word, Savage decided to pretend to be then England manager Steve McClaren and tell Bentley he had been called up to the England squad!
Speaking on Fletch and Sav on BT Sport, Bentley reminisced about the phone call with 'McClaren', saying: "I came off the phone and I'm ringing everyone in the England squad. Half an hour later I get another phone call from the actual Steve McClaren! And I'm like 'what...you just rang me"
Savage added: "He got to training and all the lads are they're in stitches"
Oh! That is pretty nasty isn't it? Thankfully for Bentley though, he did manage to get into the England squad not long after, though he only went and messed it up after claiming he was too tired to play for Stuart Pearce's U-21 side which ticked pretty much every England fan off.
Though he did get a £15 million move to Tottenham in 2008, he seemed to mess that up as well when he poured a huge bucket of ice water over Harry Redknapp live on TV... No wonder he fell out of love with the game by the time he was 30.
I guess that's what he gets for thinking that Robbie Savage sounds remotely like Steve McClaren...
