Former Sunderland midfielder Don Hutchison has criticised Sunderland defender Jan Kirchhoff on social networking site Twitter.
Kirchhoff made his debut for Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, as he featured in the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old central defender, who joined the Black Cats from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, did not start the match at White Hart Lane.
The German came on as a substitute just before the hour mark, but he did not have a good game.
It was 1-1 when Kirchhoff was introduced into the game, and it finished 4-1 to Tottenham.
The centre-back gave away a penalty by committing a foul on Danny Rose inside the Sunderland penalty area and should have done better to stop Christian Eriksen’s 25-yard effort.
Well that new centre have was brave as a lion defending Erikson goal!!!!!!— Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) January 16, 2016
Sunderland are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 18 points from 22 matches.
Sam Allardyce’s side are three points behind 17th-placed Newcastle United and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
